New Delhi, 6 August 2022: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla paid floral tributes to Dr. G. S. Dhillon, former Lok Sabha Speaker in the Central Hall of Parliament House, on his birth anniversary today.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Coal and Mines Shri Pralhad Joshi and Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Harivansh, Members of Parliament, former Members of Parliament and other Dignitaries also paid floral tributes to Dr. G. S. Dhillon in the Central Hall of Parliament House.
Dr. Dhillon served as Speaker, Lok Sabha from 08 August 1969 to 17 March 1971 and from 22 March 1971 to 01 December 1975. He resigned from the Office of the Speaker on 1 December 1975 and became the Minister of Shipping and Road Transport in the Union Cabinet. He was Minister of Agriculture from 12 May 1986 to 14 February 1988.
In his long and distinguished public life, Dr. Dhillon served the country in various capacities, including as Member of the Planning Commission and Indian High Commissioner to Canada.
Dr. Dhillon passed away on 23 March 1992.
