New Delhi, 13 November 2020: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla has greeted the people on the eve of Deepawali.
In his message, Shri Birla said: “Heartiest greetings to all countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, the festival of lights.
The Prakash Parv of Deepawali is also one such popular festival celebrated across the country. The day marks the occasion when Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram returned back to the city of Ayodhya after ensuring the victory of truth over untruth, justice over injustice and dharma over adharma and the people celebrated his homecoming by lighting of lamps.
Friends, on this auspicious occasion, I would like to appeal to all people to cheerfully celebrate Deepawali, avoid air pollution, lighten earthen lamps and decorate our homes and courtyards with beautiful items made by our artisans. The energy of this will spread everywhere around us and also among all sections of the society thereby strengthening the movement of 'Vocal for Local'. In this way, we can immensely contribute to the creation of an organized and prosperous society as well as a strong nation.
At the same time, we have to bear in mind that the threat of Corona is not yet over. I, therefore, urge upon everyone to celebrate the upcoming festivals by strictly following the mandated guidelines and social distancing norms. Let us all be aware of ourselves and also spread awareness around us.
On this joyous occasion of Deepawali, I extend my best wishes to our brave soldiers who are courageously defending the country’s borders even in the face of tough natural conditions.
My best wishes are also to the Indian diaspora settled abroad who, with their untiring dedication and goodwill, are contributing significantly in strengthening India’s relationship with other countries and building the image of our nation on the global arena.
I once again convey my best wishes to all people on Prakash Parv, Deepawali. I hope that this festival will be celebrated with mutual affection and harmony throughout the country.”
