New Delhi; 1 March, 2023: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla will address the participants of 'National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) 2023 in Central Hall of Parliament' tomorrow. Shri Birla will also distribute certificates and awards to National Winners.
85 participants from several States and Union Territories, who have been selected on the basis of district and State level competitions, are participating in the programme.
Nearly 2.01 lakh youth participated in screening processes in 755 Districts from 28 States & 8 UTs. As many as 7,140 youth took part in District Youth Parliaments. 1,407 Youth discussed contemporary issues in State Youth Parliaments.
The programme which is being organized by PRIDE, Lok Sabha Secretariat in coordination with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has the following objectives:
(i) To hear the voice of youth between 18 and less than 25 years of age, who are allowed to vote but cannot stand as a candidate for election.
(ii) To encourage the youth to engage with public issues, understand the common man's point of view, form their opinions and express it in an articulate manner.
(iii) To develop and enhance decision making abilities in the youth.
(iv) To develop respect and tolerance for the views of others in the youth.
(v) To develop an understanding in them, that respect for rules is essential for the youth for conducting any discussion systematically and effectively.
(vi) To obtain and document opinions on Vision of New India in 2024 of the youth.
(vii) To make views of youth available to policy makers and implementers to take it forward.
