LOK SABHA SPEAKER SHRI OM BIRLA ADDRESSES INDIAN DIASPORA IN HALIFAX
Halifax, 26 August 2022: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla Addressed Indian Diaspora in Halifax on concluding day of the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, today.
Speaking about aspirations and achievements of New India, Shri Birla said that rapid transformation has been made in the socio-economic lives of the people of India in the recent years. Indian model of development is being seen as ideal model by other countries, said Shri Birla. He observed that enthusiasm of the Indian Diaspora to contribute to their host country is impressive and inspiring.
Referring to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Shri Birla stressed that as India is celebrating 75 years of its Independence, youth of India and Canada should join hands, exchange knowledge, skills and experiences for development of both the countries.
Later, a cultural programme was organised by Indian Diaspora in Halifax. The programme reflected India's unity in diversity on a foreign land and its rich cultural heritage.
Departing from Canada today after a fruitful visit, Shri Birla thanked Speaker of Senate of Canada, HE. Mr. George Furey and Speaker of House of Commons of Canada, H.E. Mr. Anthony Rota for successfully organizing the Conference.
Shri Birla today begins his USA visit with Indian Parliamentary Delegation where several important engagements have been lined up. He will also Address the Indian students there.
