New Delhi, 11 March 2021: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed the Amity Youth Festival 2021 online . The event was organized by Amity University, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Neelkanth Tiwari, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh also graced the occasion.
Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Birla greeted all on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
Emphasizing the role of education in development, Shri Birla said that education is an essential factor for the all-round development of the country. He also appreciated the contributions of the private sector in India in country’s educational development.
Speaking on India's contribution in the field of science, Shri Om Birla said that it has been our journey from zero to Mangalyaan and we have traveled from Upanishads to satellites. Such achievements make us proud. He further said that in today's society which is technology driven, innovation, technology, skill development are important to give speed and energy to the society. In such a situation, we need to stay connected with the roots of our civilization and culture and move towards the pinnacle of modern science, art and technology, Shri Birla said.
Regarding the youth power of the country, Shri Birla said that our youth have the ability to not only dream but to make their dreams realities. In this context, the Speaker said that the role of educational institutions is very important in transforming these dreams into resolutions and resolutions into realities. These educational institutions enhance the intellectual, academic and physical development of students and enable them to face new situations and new challenges.
Further, invoking Swami Vivekananda who had said, 'youth power is nation power', Shri Birla said that the progress of any country depends on the youth power. The country whose youth are enlightened, educated and promising, will surely progress.
Emphasizing on leadership building, Shri Birla said that it is important to develop leadership capacity among the youth. In this context, he referred to the 'National Youth Parliament' which is organized on the occasion of Youth Day in the Parliament House in the month of January.
Speaking on the need for creating awareness among the youth about constitutional values and ideals, the Speaker said that our Prime Minister has given the mantra of 'Know Your Constitution'. Our democracy will be strengthened only when the participation of young generation in democratic activities will be increased by assimilating constitutional ideals, Shri Birla said.
Praising youth power and energy, Shri Birla said that today every youth of India is becoming a 'global identity'; In such a situation, the responsibility of youth power is more towards our nation and towards all humanity.
Appealing the younger generation for their role in nation-building, Shri Birla said that today is the day for the youth power present here to take a pledge that 'We will lay the foundation of our glorious future on our glorious cultural heritage'.
The Speaker lauded the Amity University for giving a new direction to the country's youth power.
