PRIME MINISTER TO ADDRESS THE VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
LOK SABHA SPEAKER TO ADDRESS THE INAUGURAL FUNCTION
New Delhi, 10 January, 2021: Lok Sabha Secretariat is hosting the finals of National Youth Parliament in Central Hall of Parliament House on 11-12 January, 2021.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will virtually address the dignitaries and participants during the Valedictory Function on 12 January 2021 and interact with the youth.
Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla; Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shri Harivansh; and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Kiren Rijiju will address the participants in the Inaugural Function on 11 January 2021.
Thereafter, competitive sessions and finalization and evaluation of participants by Jury Members will be held.
The event is being organised by the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers, as part of National Youth Parliament Festival, 2021 from 23 December 2020 to 12 January 2021.
Eighty-seven winners from all States/Union Territories, in addition to the National Jury for selection of winners, will be participating in the event.
Hon’ble Prime Minister in his Mann Ki Baat Address on 31 December 2017 suggested that a mock Parliament should be organized in every district of India where the youth between 18 and 25 could sit together and brain storm about new India, find ways and chalk out plans. Taking inspiration from this idea of Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, organised the first National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 from 12 to 27 January, 2019.
The second edition of the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2021 was launched on 23 December, 2020. Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, District and State level Youth Parliaments were organized on virtual mode. However, the National Youth Parliament is being organized on 11 and 12 January 2021 in Parliament House, with appropriate precautions and following the SOPs issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
