New Delhi 12 February 2020: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla presided over the National Convention of the Guru Ravidas Vishwa Mahapeeth at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi today on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidasji.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Birla paid rich tributes to Sant Ravidasji and praised Guruji’s immense contribution to Indian culture, philosophy and thought. Referring to the ever inspiring teachings of Ravidasji, Shri Birla said that, Guruji worked for the emancipation and betterment of the oppressed and suppressed, Throughout his divine life Guruji preached for equality and brotherhood in society so that no one goes hungry and no one is left behind. Shri Birla added that Guru Ravidasji’s thought and philosophy has stood the test of time and continue to guide and inspire us in our everyday lives even today.

Recalling Guruji’s message of peace and brotherhood, Shri Birla observed that we must rise above our differences of caste and class and strengthen our inherent unity. Shri Birla said that “Service to humanity must be our Dharma.”

Shri Birla told the distinguished gathering that the entire society must imbibe the teachings of Guru Ravidasji and devote itself in the service of humanity. Shri Birla added that it is our great fortune that we were born in this great nation of gurus, saints and thinkers, whose teachings continue to guide us.

At the end Shri Birla thanked the organizers of the programme for their warm hospitality and praised their untiring efforts in spreading the message of the great Guru Ravidasji, around the world. The programme was also attended by Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal.
