UNIQUE CULTURAL HERITAGE, ORGANIC FARMING, TOURISM AND ABUNDANT MINERAL RESOURCES MAKE NORTH EAST SPECIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY: LOK SABHA SPEAKER

New Delhi, 7 September 2019: Speaking as the Chief Guest at the cultural programme organized by the ‘My Home India’ on the occasion of the birthday of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Weightlifting Auditorium) in New Delhi today, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla said that the North East is one the most beautiful places of India. The unique cultural heritage, organic farming, tourism and abundant mineral resources make it special for the development of the country. Lauding their skills, fitness and deep attachment with their culture, Shri Birla said that students from North East, who arrive in big cities after conquering several adversities, excel not only in education but also contribute purposively for national integrity. Referring to the importance of the North East India from strategic point of view, Shri Birla said that this area and our brothers and sisters there actively guard our borders. He assured that he would try his best that the issues concerning the North East are discussed actively in the Parliament. Inviting the students to visit Parliament House, he suggested that they can align with our democratic and parliamentary system through the mechanism of ‘Chhatra Sansad’. He emphasized that democracy is a credible system which facilitates redressal of the deprivations and allows us to ameliorate the social and economic profile of our people. He called upon the students to move forward and work constructively for the development of the country. He assured them that Parliament will consider their suggestions seriously and work for the holistic development of the North East. Lauding the efforts of Shri Sunil Deodhar, founder of ‘My Home India’, Shri Birla said that he has been working constructively despite several obstacles. He praised the work of ‘My Home India’, mentioning that it has been contributing for the security and promotion of the issues relating to the students of the North East India.
