SECOND DAY OF SWACHHATA ABHIYAN: LOK SABHA SPEAKER URGES MPs TO WORK FOR FULFILMENT OF GANDHIJI’S MISSION OF CLEANLINESS New Delhi, 14 July 2019: On the second day of the Swachhata Abhiyan (Special Cleanliness Drive) in Parliament House Estate, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla led the Parliamentarians in undertaking Swachhata (Cleanliness) in the Parliament House Complex. Union Minister of Human Resource Development Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and several other Members of Parliament also participated enthusiastically in this Abhiyan. Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla personally undertook the work of cleaning of premises of the Parliament House and also visited the different floors of the Parliament House, Parliament House Annexe and its Extension Building to oversee the progress of the Swachhata Abhiyan in keeping the entire Complex clean. Earlier, addressing the mediapersons, Shri Birla said that Mahatma Gandhi had started the Swachhata Jan Andolan in India alongwith the Freedom Struggle and on his 150th birth anniversary, we wish that our country becomes Swachh in fulfillment of his vision by 2019. For this, all our Members of Parliament as public representatives would work towards taking forward the message of Swachhata Andolan from the Parliament to every village and town of our country. The two-day Swachhata Abhiyan was launched yesterday by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla in Parliament House Estate. For this purpose, the Parliament House Estate was divided into seven Sectors and the designated Nodal Officers were tasked the work of coordinating the cleanliness drive and other associated works.
