PARLIAMENTARIANS PAY FLORAL TRIBUTES TO PANDIT MADAN MOHAN MALAVIYA

New Delhi, 25 December 2018: Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Sumitra Mahajan; Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Narendra Singh Tomar; and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal led parliamentarians in paying floral tributes at the portrait of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his Birth Anniversary, today. Among other dignitaries who paid floral tributes to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya were several former Members of Parliament and the Secretary-General of Lok Sabha Smt. Smt. Snehlata Shrivastava. A booklet containing the profile of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries. Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya’s portrait was unveiled by the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 19 December 1957, in recognition of his outstanding services to the nation. The President of India awarded the nation’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, on Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya posthumously on 24 December 2014.
