LOK SABHA SPEAKER VISITS DHAKESHWARI TEMPLE IN DHAKA
Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Sumitra Mahajan visited and offered prayers at the famous Dhakeshwari temple today. She spent 45 minutes at the temple, which is one of the major ‘Shaktipeeths’ of the region and the most revered place for Hindus of Bangladesh. During the visit, Smt. Mahajan was felicitated by the priests of the temple. Later in the day, Smt. Mahajan visited Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, which is a rich repository of information about the life and times of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Museum, once the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, had been the nerve centre of major political developments during the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. In her message on the Visitors' Book at the Museum, Smt. Mahajan placed on record the heroic and unparalleled sacrifices made by legendary leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the history of Bangladesh. S saluted Sheikh Hasina Wazed's courage for taking forward her father's political legacy and for preserving the rich heritage of Bangladesh's epic struggle for freedom in the form of museum. Smt. Mahajan also visited the Pebble production unit at Sonargaon. She interacted with the office bearers of the NGO, who showed her different products made by them. She was also apprised about the Mission of the NGO, particularly about its focus for welfare of children.
