LOK SABHA SPEAKER HOSTS CULTURAL EVENING ‘SNEH MILAN’ FOR WOMEN MPs
New Delhi, 09 March 2017 : As part of celebrations of International Womens’ Day, Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Sumitra Mahajan today hosted a cultural evening ‘Sneh Milan’ for Women Members of Parliament of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at her residence. On this occasion, Women MPs of both the houses of Parliament graced the event by rendering their poetic, singing and dancing skills and showed their inner ability apart from law-making. While Smt Geetha Kothapalli, Ms Aprita Ghosh, Prof. (Dr.) Mamtaz Sanghamita and Smt. Satabdi Roy sang melodious songs, Smt. Anju Bala performed an impressive dance. A ‘Shayari’ composition was also presented by Smt. Bijoya Chakravarty which was applauded by the dignitaries. The cultural evening ended with Garbha dance by a group of MPs. The event was unique in the sense that women lawmakers showed their amazing hidden talents. Smt. Poonam Mahajan and Ms. Sushmita Dev anchored the entire programme. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Mahajan thanked all the Women MPs for gracing the occasion and expressed delight and amazement on seeing the versatile artistic talents of the Women Parliamentarians across the political spectrum. Smt Mahajan later presented mementos of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar to the participant Women MPs and also gave the book ‘Ek Hota Carver’ on George Washington Carver to all the dignitaries. The Cultural evening ended with a dinner.
